We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative II to join our team at University Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive administrative support and serve as the first point of contact for patients.
Key Responsibilities- Interview and register patients in a face-to-face setting or over the phone, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
- Validate medical, demographic, insurance, financial, and business data to maintain master patient index integrity and create accurate claims.
- Prepare patient materials, including forms, labels, brochures, and surveys.
- Maintain confidential health records, process physician orders, and schedule patients.
- Identify and communicate the need for interpreter services.
- Provide patient education on third-party coverage and liabilities.
- Communicate payment options and connect patients with financial counselors as needed.
- Collect, post, and balance patient payments.
- Perform additional support and backup functions within the department and provide cross-coverage as needed.
- Mentor new hires and maintain expertise in PAS legal and compliance requirements.
- Handle patient inquiries regarding services and logistics to ensure timely access to care.
- Recruit and train patients to access My UH Care Personal Health Record.
- Exceed productivity and quality standards.
- Collaborate with staff and providers across the system to improve patient experience and department efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Be cross-trained to perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in UH emergency preparedness.
- May be scheduled to work at off-sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Abide by requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients.
