Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our team in Monroe, WI. As a System Modernization Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing COBOL and JCL code, while actively participating in the modernization journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance existing COBOL and JCL code
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team of developers and support staff to ensure seamless operation of critical legacy systems
  • Engage with cutting-edge technologies, particularly in the AWS cloud services environment
  • Contribute to the creation of new services and systems using modern scripting languages like SQL, Python, and Java

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or appropriately related field preferred
  • Basic Knowledge of software development principles and architecture
  • Working technical experience with relational database servers
  • Ability to break down and understand complex business problems, define a solution, and implement it using advanced quantitative methods
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: COBOL, JCL, R, Python, SLQ, etc. to manipulate data and draw insights from data sets
  • Experience using web services: Redshift, S3, REST APIs, etc.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
