Our accredited non-profit educational institution merges traditional education with therapeutic interventions and vocational skill training. Our Adult Services Program features several licensed community residences and adult learning centers, where skilled therapists and instructors assist adult clients in achieving their maximum level of functioning and community integration. The Arts Access program enables individuals with disabilities to express their creativity through art, utilizing innovative communication tools that allow for unrestricted exploration of their artistic talents.

Matheny Medical and Educational Center is seeking Full-Time Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS).

Responsibilities of the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments utilizing departmental formats.
  • Designing, developing, and executing tailored treatment programs for each client based on evaluation results and collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in using departmental technology and adaptive equipment during therapy sessions.
  • Documenting progress in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Planning, organizing, and leading community outings aligned with client-specific program goals.
  • Creating and implementing leisure activities suitable for the age and functional level of clients.
  • Actively engaging in departmental initiatives, quality improvement, and program enhancement.
  • Collaborating with treatment team members to share evaluation findings and therapeutic outcomes, ensuring alignment with client needs and capabilities.
  • Practicing safe handling techniques tailored to the task, environment, and individual client.
  • Training clients, family members, and caregivers in hospital settings to support treatment goals as necessary.
  • Supervising Recreation Therapy interns and volunteers as assigned.
  • Effectively managing case responsibilities.
