Position Overview

Job Title: Registered Nurse OB/GYN

Reports To: Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, and Director of Nursing.

Salary Range: $35 - $41.18

Role Summary:

The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers while directly engaging with patients. Responsibilities include managing triage, handling phone inquiries, administering medications, and guiding patients during their visits. In the absence of the Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse will assume desk nurse duties, conduct skilled nursing assessments, and ensure a professional atmosphere within a multi-provider, multidisciplinary organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a patient-centered environment, advocating for individuals of all ages and their families based on sound nursing judgment and established standards of practice.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow by assisting providers and other staff members.
  • Execute nursing tasks within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act, demonstrating proficiency in these responsibilities while adhering to Board of Registration regulations.
  • Perform nursing duties across various clinical settings.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Massachusetts state nursing license.
  • Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.).
  • Ongoing maintenance of licensure and certifications.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
Essential Knowledge:
  • Understanding of nursing principles, including disease processes, examinations, observations, and laboratory studies, and their application to patient care.
  • Familiarity with the Nurse Practice Act and Code of Ethics.
  • Proficient in the Nursing Process and Managed Care.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and infection control guidelines.
  • Awareness of emergency procedures and moderate computer skills.

  • Demonstrate reliability through excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and maintain discretion in communications.
  • Display courteousness and consideration towards patients and colleagues.

  • Follow the appropriate chain of command and participate in meetings.
Clinical Duties:
  • Prepare patients for visits, including physical exams and gynecological assessments.
  • Monitor vital signs and document patient information accurately.
  • Administer injections and perform various patient tests and treatments.
  • Provide patient education and manage prescription refills.
  • Engage in telephone and walk-in triage as needed.
  • Assist with hospital discharge follow-ups and ensure compliance with care standards.
Quality Improvement:
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to the enhancement of health center services.
  • Engage in goal-setting for personal and team development.
  • Contribute to the review and revision of policies and procedures.
Team Collaboration:
  • Encourage a collaborative approach among team members.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling and responsibilities.
  • Effectively manage conflicts and promote good communication.
  • Support the orientation and training of new staff members.
Work Environment:

Position located in a dynamic community health center. The role may require extended hours.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift equipment and patients, with a maximum weight of 40 pounds. Frequent standing and walking are required, along with sufficient visual and auditory acuity for patient interactions.
