Job Overview

The role involves developing, implementing, and supporting the operating plant's Quality Systems and Process Improvement initiatives to ensure the production of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations. This position provides comprehensive leadership to the Quality Manager and site QA technicians as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a safety advocate, prioritizing safety in all responsibilities. Collaborate with the EHS Manager to establish and uphold policies and programs that ensure a safe working environment.
  • Oversee all supervisory aspects of direct reports, including performance evaluations, recruitment, salary management, training, recognition, and disciplinary actions.
  • Direct the activities and priorities of Process Engineers and the Quality Department.
  • Identify, develop, and implement strategies for cost reduction, waste minimization, increased throughput, and overall process enhancement.
  • Ensure compliance and monitor resources for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the plant's Food Defense and Product Safety systems.
  • Assist in Product Development by leveraging manufacturing knowledge to ensure adherence to design control and scale-up protocols at the initiation of new projects.
  • Administer all incoming orders, specifications, waivers, and projects within the Amcor Commercialization System. Manage the product specification system from the creation of new specifications in collaboration with Sales and R&D to requesting revisions or deviations as needed to optimize performance.
  • Supervise internal validations and Design of Experiments to identify key process variables for manufacturing processes.
  • Implement necessary actions to ensure new products meet customer manufacturing and quality requirements while aligning with our manufacturing capabilities.
  • Maintain the overall Quality system/department within the facility by ensuring current procedures and practices comply with customer requirements and specifications. Responsible for incoming verification of purchased products, in-process inspections, and final reviews of all products.
  • Exhibit proactive awareness and adherence to all relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, and customers as needed regarding quality expectations, performance at customer facilities, and manufacturing process capabilities to keep all parties informed and updated.
  • Manage the Corrective Action system by assisting Supply Chain, Customer Service, Customer Focused Quality, and manufacturing teams in resolving quality concerns and complaints.
  • Review and monitor the organization's documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and currency for the facility.
  • Facilitate and enforce all company policies and procedures as outlined and defined.
  • Promote and integrate the philosophy of Continuous Improvement initiatives into the plant's culture.
