Job Summary">

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Assistant to join our Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) team at the University of California. The successful candidate will provide primary medical management for oncology/BMT patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary care team to promote consistent medical management across the healthcare continuum.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hematology/oncology, with experience in performing specialized procedures such as bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture, and skin biopsy. They will also be responsible for presenting patient cases during daily rounds and weekly BMT clinical meetings, providing patient/family and staff education, and supporting the development and revision of BMT divisional policies and procedures.

In addition to their clinical expertise, the successful candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate team members and function as part of an interdisciplinary team. They will also be comfortable in a group teaching setting and willing to participate in community outreach.

Requirements
  • Must be a graduate from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • California Physician Assistant (PA) license
  • Current PA Certification from NCCPA
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date
  • Minimum one (1) year recent work experience as a licensed Physician Assistant in Oncology, BMT, or adult critical care
  • Thorough knowledge of BMT process and hematological blood cancers, including knowledge of pathology of patient population, expected outcomes, normal and abnormal lab results
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the medical as well as psych-social needs of a patient population with cancer
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members
  • A high level of professionalism and excellent verbal and written communication skills
