Executive Chef Assistant

About the Role:
The Sous Chef is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for overseeing and supervising kitchen staff to ensure the highest quality food is prepared and presented to our guests. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to plan and direct food preparation, manage inventory, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct food preparation to ensure consistency and quality.
- Work with the Executive Chef to develop menus and manage inventory.
- Supervise kitchen staff to ensure they are following proper food safety and handling procedures.
- Manage kitchen operations, including ordering supplies and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Train and develop kitchen staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs effectively.
- Monitor and control food costs to ensure they are within budget.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working order and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Italian cuisine.
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Exceptional cooking skills and knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate kitchen staff.
- Familiarity with hotel and catering services industry best practices.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and restaurant management software.
- Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Education:
- Culinary degree required.
Language Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred).
Reasoning Ability:
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
