Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with Superintendents and Fire Wardens to improve fire control and prevention methods.
  • Advises on and assists in planning periodic fire and evacuation drills.
  • Investigates all fires and accidents, prepares reports, and recommends control measures.
  • Assists in furnishing safety education, initiates training programs, and participates in safety conferences.
  • Inspects fire emergency equipment and fire alarm systems.
  • Records and follows up on notices of pertinent violations filed by other responsible municipal agencies.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and maintains departmental statistics relating to fires and accidents.
  • Maintains liaison with City agencies, private industry, and fire prevention associations.
Requirements
  • A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and four years of general experience in safety and accident prevention work.
  • One year of experience must have involved responsibility for conducting an organized safety and accident prevention program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FDNY certification S95, F01, WO7, or F89.
