A Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing robust quality assurance processes for suppliers to ensure that the materials provided meet the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Creates and maintains quality assurance processes for suppliers, which includes inspection plans, quality control procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Evaluates incoming material and disposes of non-conforming material from both suppliers and customers.
- Documents customer-provided material non-conformances and communicates that to the customer through the Project Manager.
- Works with suppliers to develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans to address quality issues using a Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) report.
- Monitors and reports on supplier performance.
- Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of potential and existing suppliers to ensure their capabilities meet the required quality standards.
- Collaborates with the Outsourcing Team to qualify new suppliers and conduct supplier audits as necessary.
- Has consistent contact with suppliers to communicate quality expectations and provide feedback.
- Regularly travels to suppliers for auditing purposes.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Ability to define problems, drive to the root cause, and take practical corrective actions.
- Basic knowledge of ISO standards and Six Sigma tools.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Auditing/QMS certification (i.e., Internal Auditing, Certified Quality Auditor).
