Job Summary:

Evaluate and monitor statistical and financial data generated by Collections, Insurance, and Billing sections. Manage revenue collection from patients for services rendered. Supervise assigned staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and collaborate with others to enforce all credit and collection policies at all clinics and business offices.
  • Analyze charge and total revenues, develop improved collection methods and procedures, and conduct in-service programs on department policies.
  • Analyze history of delinquent accounts to determine collection potential, review and authorize write-offs to collection agencies, attorneys, and bad debt allowances.
  • Optimize system functionality to automate follow-up and collection processes, analyze allowance for doubtful accounts, and generate reports.
  • Compile monthly financial reports to monitor Accounts Receivable, participate in negotiation and administration of contacts with collection agencies, and represent the organization in counter suits.

  • Optimize customer satisfaction by providing excellent Customer Relations support, managing incoming phone inquiries, emails, patient correspondence, and other inquiries regarding patient billing issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all federal, state, and local regulations relating to extension of credit, billing, and allowable follow-up procedures, and all reimbursement procedures of third-party and private insurance payers.
  • Liaison to assigned clinics regarding financial issues, participate in national and local work groups related to billing and collection, and hire, train, supervise, counsel, discipline, and terminate assigned staff as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Minimum five (5) years collections experience in a healthcare organization or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of related federal and state regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year credit analysis experience.
  • Formal credit/collection training.
  • Knowledge of Kaiser Permanente health plans and systems.
  • Medical claims experience.
