Position Overview

The Pest Management Specialist II plays a crucial role in managing pest control initiatives by implementing treatments, monitoring traps, and following the directives of the Cultivation Manager. Key responsibilities include the precise preparation and application of plant protection products, coordinating schedules with the team, and meticulously documenting all treatments. This position also involves aiding in monitoring activities, utilizing biological controls, pursuing a supervisory license, displaying cautionary signage, participating in meetings, and collaborating with other cultivation departments.

Compensation Range: $24-$26/hr

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely application of treatments, monitoring, and trap inspections to ensure optimal pest management practices are upheld.
  • Prepare and apply plant protection products according to the specified guidelines from the Cultivation Manager.
  • Communicate the morning pest management schedule to the cultivation team.
  • Document all treatment applications on the designated forms prior to execution.
  • Assist in monitoring all vegetative and flowering areas weekly as directed by the Cultivation Manager.
  • Support the deployment of biological control measures to mitigate pest issues.
  • Engage in studies to obtain a Qualified Applicator License, enabling the IPM Lead to oversee others in recommended treatment applications.
  • Display appropriate warning signage and actively address quarantine issues as they arise.
  • Participate in cultivation meetings as required.
  • Provide assistance to other cultivation departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of common cannabis pests and diseases is highly preferred.
  • This role requires independent work, necessitating excellent time-management abilities.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a background check conducted by local law enforcement.
  • California Department of Pesticide Regulation Private Applicator's Certification is preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position operates within an indoor facility with regulated temperatures; exposure to bright lighting, loud machinery, airborne particles, and close interaction with staff and vendors is expected.
  • Working conditions include controlled temperatures ranging from 65-78 degrees Fahrenheit in cultivation areas, with humidity levels reaching up to 80%; exposure to bright lighting, elevated CO2 levels, and operational machinery is part of the environment.

Job Requirements

  • Selected candidates must complete a respirator fit test within 30 days of employment.
  • Obtaining a Private Applicator's Certification within 30 days of hire is mandatory.
  • Work is centered around objectives and priorities rather than strict hours; flexibility for weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • Compliance with all legal and company regulations is essential.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a background check by local law enforcement.
