Job Overview

Position Summary

The Behavior Support Technician is responsible for assisting students requiring significant support to meet their educational, behavioral, and social objectives. This role is crucial in helping students develop the skills necessary for greater independence and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement teaching strategies, lesson plans, and tasks while documenting student responses and reinforcing appropriate behaviors as guided by the Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA).
  • Engage with students throughout the day to enhance their communication, social, and behavioral skills, as well as address sensory needs and facilitate self-help activities, under the direction of the LBA.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity timelines on program documentation.
  • Assist in the creation of educational materials tailored to individual student needs.
  • Participate actively in regular team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.
  • Ensure daily maintenance of student program data as instructed by the LBA.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding student behavior to the appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Ensure that all learning environments are kept tidy, with trash disposed of and lights turned off at the end of each day.
  • Document student progress through detailed notes.

Employment Type

This is a full-time role that involves working closely with students who may display challenging or aggressive behaviors and participating in community-based activities.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of navigating various environments independently, some of which may not be accessible to individuals with mobility challenges. Reliable transportation may be necessary for locations not served by public transit.
