Spacecraft Systems Engineer I/II Pipeline

Space SystemsRocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for designing, creating, and putting together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors. Our team of engineers, technicians, and designers work on every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab.
Job SummaryWe are seeking Spacecraft Systems Engineers I/II for future opportunities in our systems engineering teams based out of Littleton, CO. These teams support our Space Systems division, leading cutting-edge programs for civil, commercial, and defense customers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain technical budgets, requirements definition, test planning and execution, and overall management of the systems engineering process.
- Work hands-on with flight hardware and drive the technical development of our Space Systems missions.
- Lead and own technical development of spacecraft missions.
- Assist with program and product management.
- Develop interface specifications, CONOPS definition, and other design documents in collaboration with team members.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or other technical engineering discipline).
- Engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
- Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
- For Spacecraft Systems Engineer II, 2+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
- Master's or PhD engineering in engineering (software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or other technical engineering discipline).
- Understanding of key spacecraft subsystems and their associated components.
- Thorough understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, and STK.
- Experience with requirement management tools such as JAMA or DOORS.
- Experience with satellite operations.
- Experience with testing electrical subsystems and assemblies, thermal vacuum or random vibration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate levels of noise.
