Job Title: Instructional Aide

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Instructional Aide to join our team at Ombudsman Educational Services. As an Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in providing individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students, as well as additional support to the core classroom staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for students.
  • Instruct and monitor students during lessons to ensure fidelity of instruction.
  • Utilize instructional strategies to assist with student learning and help students meet requirements for course completion.
  • Encourage and monitor student progress, communicating with classroom teachers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, including course completion and syllabus information.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom, upholding the ChanceLight philosophy and policies.
  • Support students with academic issues and provide encouragement.
  • Participate in school meetings, student/parent meetings, and individual student advisory meetings as requested.
  • Communicate necessary information to students, team members, supervisors, and parents regarding student needs and academic progress.
  • Participate in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure the site meets performance plans.
  • Participate in all school and district professional development days.
  • Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff for the good of the school.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in a relevant field of study preferred.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, educational aide, or teaching assistant credential.
  • Highly skilled in working with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or related disabilities.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions.
  • Well-versed in the use of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
