Job SummaryThe YMCA Youth Basketball Instructor will be responsible for designing and leading basketball programs and classes for children of different age groups. The instructor will work to teach fundamental skills and techniques of basketball while creating a fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Lead Basketball Programs: Develop and implement engaging basketball programs and classes for children of different age groups, focusing on teaching fundamental skills and techniques.
- Supervise and Monitor Participants: Ensure the safety and well-being of participants, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Communicate Effectively: Respond to questions and concerns from participants and parents, providing information and support to help them achieve their goals.
- Build Relationships: Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Keep accurate records of attendance and progress, ensuring that program objectives are met.
- Follow YMCA Policies: Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, responding to emergency situations as needed.
- Passionate Belief in the Y's Cause: Demonstrate a strong commitment to the YMCA's mission and values.
- Effective Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
- Certifications: Obtain CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid certification within the first 60 days.
- Experience and Qualifications: Have experience participating in basketball and previous experience instructing, preferred.
Physical Demands: The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, running, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
