Position Overview

The FSQA Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all operations of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance department, ensuring compliance with food safety protocols, adherence to specifications, and maintenance of product quality within the designated facility and shift.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are essential to this role:

  • Ensure that FSQA team members comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out protocols during sanitation inspections of equipment.
  • Facilitate training and development for hourly FSQA personnel, enforcing company policies through effective coaching, verification, and accountability measures.
  • Conduct routine audits to verify compliance with regulatory standards, customer requirements, and Peco FSQA policies, including necessary documentation for HACCP and GMP programs.
  • Confirm that finished products meet customer and Peco specifications; routinely verify sampling procedures to ensure accurate and consistent practices in line with customer and Peco standards. Ensure all data is accurately entered into data collection systems as per customer requirements.
  • Address product issues and audit findings as directed by the FSQA Manager.
  • Validate the pre-operational program through organoleptic and surface ATP or APC sampling, ensuring corrective actions are implemented for any non-compliance with plant SSOP procedures. Provide feedback and reporting to plant management.
  • Participate in audits focusing on facility and foreign material prevention best practices.
  • Ensure that the test kitchen on the assigned shift conducts cook-offs and other testing at the required frequency, documenting results as necessary. Perform daily sensory evaluations of produced products with documented outcomes.
  • Manage the Hold and Release program for the assigned shift, including updating the status to the FSQA Manager.
  • Engage in cross-functional improvement teams as requested by the FSQA Manager.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree or higher in food safety, animal science, natural science, or a related technical field, or equivalent job experience is required.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in standard computer applications is necessary, including generating spreadsheets and utilizing data collection systems for report generation.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, demonstrating the ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel and USDA representatives at the assigned location.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior industry experience is preferred to fully understand regulatory, production, and manufacturing concepts.
  • Familiarity with FDA and USDA regulated products is advantageous.
  • HACCP certification and experience with GFSI standards are considered a plus.
