The Maintenance Technician I will undertake various responsibilities that may encompass safety corrections, cleaning and aesthetic improvements, hazard reporting, boiler operation duties, and general preventive maintenance tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond promptly to maintenance requests, whether through work orders or urgent calls.
Introduce yourself to the department prior to commencing work.
Document parts requests as necessary and submit them to your supervisor, ensuring timely follow-up.
Ensure proper handling and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Maintain cleanliness in shop areas, mechanical rooms, and work sites.
Exhibit proficiency in troubleshooting issues, executing repairs, and selecting appropriate tools for tasks.
Understand and conduct chemical tests, documenting results for plant and water features.
Ability to interpret and understand sketches, blueprints, measurements, and operational manuals.
Possess a working knowledge of the hospital's Life Safety systems.
Have familiarity with HVAC systems.
Understand elevator operations, automatic doors, and gate systems, performing minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
Basic knowledge of the hospital's boiler system, domestic water system, sewer system, emergency fuel storage, and electrical distribution systems.
The responsibilities outlined above are intended to provide a representative overview of the primary duties performed by individuals in this role.
Additional job-related tasks may be assigned as necessary.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two years of trade experience or a minimum of four years in general maintenance.
Must possess a basic set of tools as outlined by departmental policy.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; capable of interacting with patients, families, colleagues, and medical staff; willing to undergo training for advanced responsibilities or skills.
Must be able to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and statistical data; requires emotional stability and resilience.
Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentMust demonstrate good hand-eye coordination and have no color vision deficiencies.
Must be capable of using intricate hand tools and testing devices while working with system components.
May need to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and stairs, and push or pull varying weights.
Must possess good manual dexterity and full range of motion in all extremities, along with good perception and field of vision.
May occasionally work in semi-clean environments.Ability to work shifts as required.
