Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Janitorial Assistant to join our team at Northgate Markets. As a Janitorial Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our store, ensuring a positive and safe environment for our customers and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning floors, walls, and windows.
  • Empty trash and recyclables, and restock supplies as needed.
  • Restock paper and soap supplies in restrooms.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including plumbing fixtures.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and reporting any equipment issues.
  • Assist with training new employees and provide guidance on store policies and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and submit purchase orders as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High school education preferred.
  • Ability to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret English language with sufficient proficiency.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the legal and medical guidelines permitted by the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
