Job Summary

Medical Facilities of America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, the Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursing units, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and supervision to nursing staff on all shifts, ensuring that they are equipped to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, federal, state, and local regulations, and industry standards.
  • Supervise the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing, as directed.
  • Monitor staff compliance with assigned break times and patient care assignments, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective care.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to coordinate patient care, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Conduct patient rounds, providing immediate feedback to assigned staff and addressing any concerns or issues.
  • Initiate coaching, counseling, and corrective action as necessary, to ensure that staff are meeting performance expectations.
  • Review and investigate patient, family, and staff concerns, taking action to resolve and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of quality nursing staff, ensuring that our team is equipped to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Review staffing at change of shift, assigning and replacing staff to meet patient care needs, while ensuring budget and cost controls.
  • Ensure that the nursing unit operates efficiently, with consideration to budget and cost controls, and that unnecessary waste and spending are minimized.
Requirements
  • One year of nurse management/leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams of individuals, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.
  • Thorough knowledge of current standards of nursing practice.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
  • Excellent customer service focus.
