The Media Correspondent position entails the collection of news, taking photographs, and composing articles under the guidance of the Editor. Duties also encompass staying updated on current events, adapting to advancements in newsroom technology, and maintaining a repository of story concepts.
Primary Duties:
- Compose assigned articles, investigative pieces, and special publications as instructed
- Capture newsworthy images and videos
- Track story counts and meet productivity standards
- Follow grammar and style guidelines as outlined by the editor
- Edit and review news content for precision and clarity
- Generate and upload content for websites and social media
- Assist in the layout of newspaper and special publication pages
- Engage with community members in a professional manner
- Participate in editorial meetings
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Operate office machinery and type with accuracy
Additional Duties:
- Adhere to company safety protocols
- Contribute to team efforts in customer service
- Receive cross-training and undertake related tasks as necessary
- Offer driving services if needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or equivalent experience
- Previous reporting experience is advantageous
- Proficient spelling and grammar skills
- Knowledge of Associated Press style
- Strong verbal and customer service abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
- Capable of working in various weather conditions
- Typical physical demands of an office environment
Work Environment:
The work setting includes moderate noise levels, various odors, and lighting conditions. Compliance with state and federal regulations is essential for employee safety.
