Zachry Group is seeking a skilled Rigger to join our team. As a Rigger, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of heavy equipment and materials on our construction sites.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a safety observer on equipment lifts to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Inspect all rigging equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Plan or assist in the planning of lifts to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Attach loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
- Tie rope around loads for use of guiding during lifting and positioning.
- Signal equipment operators during lifts for directional or placement instructions.
- Guide loads during lifts and positioning.
- Climb structures to guide and position loads.
- Assist in connecting or stabilizing loads prior to detaching them from equipment.
- Detach loads and remove rigging equipment.
- Place and remove outrigger pads from cranes and other heavy equipment.
- Must have specific knowledge of rigging equipment and their capacities.
- Must have knowledge of required tools and their proper use.
- Must be a team player with effective communication skills in dealing with coworkers and other work-related contacts.
- Must have basic knowledge of construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction.
- Must be able to use problem-solving skills and critical thinking to resolve and identify issues, including safety risks.
- Must know proper hand signals to communicate with equipment operators.
- Must have knowledge regarding lift planning, including equipment to use, load capacities of equipment, and lifting equipment.
- Must hold an NCCER or NCCCO certification for Rigging (or have previous Zachry ETS Signal Person Training).
- Must have basic transportation knowledge in regards to moving equipment and loads from one location to another.
- Knowledge of arithmetic required for planning a lift.
- Must be willing to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF'ed employee.
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Experience working as an Industrial Ironworker.
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Will talk and hear to communicate.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs.
- Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
