At Prisma Health, we're dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and inspiring health in our communities. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you'll play a vital role in our laboratory team, ensuring the safe and efficient collection of patient specimens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient and specimen identification, and accurately label specimens with required information.
  • Input and assess information via hospital and laboratory computer systems, reviewing collection lists, unreceived lists, tracking logs, and telephone logs for completion of work.
  • Follow safety procedures and respond correctly to safety violations and drills, reporting and documenting personal exposure to hazardous or infectious situations.
  • Process specimens for testing, including identifying, sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling specimens appropriately.
  • Restock supplies, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and monitor expiration dates of supplies and reagents.
  • Communicate with patients and guests in a timely and courteous manner, using positive interpersonal skills in all interactions.
  • Perform account registrations, order tests, and complete clerical duties, such as scanning patient data and tracking workload performance.
  • Participate in Continuing Education (CE) program annually and complete required training for age-specific patients.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.
  • Three (3) month training in phlebotomy.
