About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Nursery, Labor & Delivery department. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the operating room, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and nursing staff to support the patient during vaginal delivery and/or surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room, equipment, and supplies for the next patient, anticipating additional instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure.
  • Support the obstetrician during obstetrical procedures, performing competently the surgical tech role in the provision of surgical assistance during a variety of obstetrical procedures, including vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries, cesarean section deliveries, and other non-delivery obstetrical and gynecologic procedures.
  • Assist the circulating RN with sponge, instrument, needle, and other surgical counts, and assist with the care of instruments, equipment, and supplies following surgical procedure.
  • Role model behaviors and skills, through peer-to-peer accountability, towards improving department score for patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique pre, during, and post obstetrical procedures and/or deliveries, preparing sterile dressings and/or other devices, cleaning and preparing instruments for terminal sterilization, and assisting other members of the team with terminal cleaning of the room.
  • Organize the work flow effectively, problem-solve, and manage multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, participating in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
  • Two years as a Surgical Technologist.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA).
  • TS-C - Technologist in Surgery-Certified (NCCT).
  • OR GRNDF - Surgical Technologist Met Grandfather Clause (Bill 643).
