Utilization Management Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Utilization Management Specialist is responsible for managing admission and concurrent reviews for certification and length of stay assignments to insurance providers through various communication methods such as fax, electronic communication, or phone, adhering to payer contract guidelines.

All interactions, including the documentation of authorization numbers, are recorded within the patient's medical record in the Epic system under the Auth Cert tab and/or Account Notes.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A High School diploma is required, while an Associate degree in Health Information Management is preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare environment, such as a medical practice, hospital, or insurance setting, is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous. Candidates should possess typing skills of at least 35 words per minute and demonstrate proficiency in using the Internet, email, and online applications. Strong time management and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
