Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the pharmacist in serving patients and maintaining pharmacy operations.
  • Sanitize work areas and prepare the pharmacy for daily operations.
  • Welcome customers and address their inquiries.
  • Receive and verify the authenticity of prescriptions.
  • Process prescriptions electronically, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Resolve issues such as rejected insurance claims as they arise.
  • Select appropriate medications and accurately measure dosages for prescriptions.
  • Organize, stock, label medications, and oversee inventory management.
  • Perform administrative duties such as record-keeping as assigned.
  • Adhere to all security protocols and quality standards.
  • Stay informed about HIPAA, HITECH, and FWA credentialing requirements.
  • Assist the pharmacist with both clinical and non-clinical tasks, documenting and reporting any quality-related issues as necessary.
  • Package medication orders according to established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate medication delivery details with patients.
  • Prepare and arrange for medication delivery through courier or shipping services.
  • Communicate with insurance providers to secure payment for prescription claims.
  • Handle incoming calls for prescription orders and refills, and follow up with patients regarding their medications.
  • Prioritize calls and escalate issues to appropriate leadership when needed.

Qualifications:

Essential Education & Licenses:

  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician as mandated by state regulations.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of proven experience in a pharmacy technician role.
  • Familiarity with Micro Merchant pharmacy software.
  • Understanding of medication and dosage calculations.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and medical terminology.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Dependable with a meticulous approach to tasks.
  • Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training program as required by state regulations.

Physical Demands:
