Job OverviewBarnstable County is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join its team. As a key member of the Barnstable County Dredge Department, this individual will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide variety of mechanical equipment used by the department.

Maintenance and repair work includes tasks such as changing oil, replacing fittings, managing spare parts, and performing routine maintenance checks.

The ideal candidate will have high school education and proven experience with diesel, gas, and outboard engines, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, marine electrical systems, and welding.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Able to acquire a hydraulic license (Class 2A) within first year of employment.
  • Must be able to travel to project sites using department vehicles on Cape Cod.
  • Available to work Saturdays as needed (with overtime during the dredge season).
  • Able to tolerate conditions on the water, vibrations, heat, confined spaces, and high noise levels.
