Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Long Island State Veterans Home. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the daily needs of residents and assign appropriate staff to meet nursing care needs.
  • Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided to residents.
  • Document and update nursing care plans regarding changes and needs of residents.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Participate in clinical in-service training and education programs.
  • Work closely with nurse manager to counsel and evaluate nursing employees.
  • Act as a professional role model for staff and nursing students.
  • Participate in quality assurance studies and demonstrate proficiency in providing nursing care for residents with complex needs.
Working Conditions

Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and other unpleasant elements. May be exposed to and required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations.

Qualifications
  • NYS Registered Nurse License
  • Long Term Care and Healthcare experience
  • Experience using EMR
  • Clinical practice experiences working with an adult or aging population in a clinical setting
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills

The Long Island State Veterans Home is a tobacco-free environment. Tobacco products are strictly prohibited anywhere on our 25-acre campus. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
