The Senior Automation Specialist is expected to meet all qualifications of an Automation Technologist while demonstrating advanced expertise and technical proficiency.
This role involves diagnosing electrical issues and applying electrical principles to evaluate and modify machinery and components. Responsibilities include generating and implementing modifications to PLC, computer programs, and Drives, as well as maintaining and installing control system communications. The incumbent must possess the ability to troubleshoot, service, and repair industrial process control systems, instrumentation, robotic assembly devices, and computer-controlled machinery.Key Responsibilities:
In addition to fulfilling all duties of the Automation Technologist, this position also entails training and supporting other team members in the Automation Technologist role.
Oversees Capital projects assigned to the Automation team and coordinates the efforts of junior maintenance personnel and contractors on designated projects.
Manages in-house initiatives (ordering components, conducting meetings, supervising installations, etc.) and provides thorough IBA/PLC analysis of all operational challenges. Executes advanced PLC programming, networking, and troubleshooting; sets up and installs hardware; and evaluates equipment to recommend design modifications and enhancements as necessary.
Possesses expert knowledge and understanding, along with the capability to modify ancillary systems or equipment used in conjunction with PLCs, including:operating systems, software applications, drives, and/or data acquisition systems, ensuring identification of root causes for equipment failures.
Capable of rebuilding/configuring all PCs/HMIs across the facility. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with AC/DC Drives. Well-versed in all areas and equipment throughout the entire operation. Education and Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Automation Technologist. Post-secondary education in a relevant field. Demonstrated strong technical aptitude. Highly self-motivated individual.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing or walking, maintain balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push/pull objects.
Ability to reach, squat, and endure prolonged sitting. Capability to lift up to 70 lbs. Proficient in operating hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet. Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching. Ability to work in extreme ambient temperatures up to 160°F. Capacity to work in confined spaces and at heights. Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
