Swim Instructor

Are you passionate about teaching others to swim and creating a safe, fun environment in our pools? As a Swim Lesson Instructor with the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and adults alike.

We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Swim Lesson Instructor. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching swimming lessons to children and adults, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and building strong relationships with students and parents.

• Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines and prepared lesson plans
• Build effective relationships with students and parents, encouraging parent involvement and identifying potential volunteers
• Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, and refer students and parents to other programs as needed
• Maintain records as required, including attendance and progress reports
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled, and follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures

• At least 16 years of age
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent (Achieve within 90 days)
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards, including knowledge of swim strokes
• Desire to work with individuals of all ages
• Strong organizational, verbal, written, and customer service skills

Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques, and to lift equipment and small to average-sized children.
