Swim Instructor

Join our team of dedicated professionals at the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina as a Swim Lesson Instructor. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and fun environment for children and adults to learn and improve their swimming skills.

• Instruct swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, following YMCA guidelines and lesson plans.
• Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a positive and supportive team environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, providing clear instructions and feedback to ensure a successful learning experience.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices and YMCA policies.

• At least 16 years of age
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent (achieved within 90 days)
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards, including knowledge of swim strokes and water safety techniques
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service

The ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques, as well as lift equipment and small to average-sized children, is essential for this role.
