Job Summary:The School Nurse will provide health services to students, including first aid, emergency care, and chronic condition management. The successful candidate will also educate students, staff, and parents about health-related topics and maintain accurate health records.
Responsibilities:- Provide first aid and emergency care to students, including administering medication and conducting health screenings.
- Manage chronic health conditions, such as asthma and diabetes, and develop care plans in coordination with students' families and healthcare providers.
- Conduct routine health screenings and follow up on any concerns.
- Develop and implement health education programs and workshops for students, staff, and parents.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, including immunization records and health history.
- Document incidents involving injuries or illnesses and communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
- Work with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support students' health needs and create a safe learning environment.
- Previous experience in pediatric nursing, school health, or a related area is preferred.
- Strong clinical and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with a Texas Nursing License and CPR/First Aid Certification.
