Job Title: Senior Technical Writer

Job Summary:

Krasan Consulting Services is a Chicago-based boutique management consulting and technology solutions integrator. As a certified BEP WBE with the State of Illinois and a certified WBE, MBE, and DBE recognized by the City of Chicago, Krasan provides complex technology solutions and services for clients in the Public and Commercial sectors. With decades of experience, Krasan specializes in end-to-end technology solutions, integration, and implementation services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document IT application stacks, identifying key areas where they reside, and creating thorough documentation.
  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents such as system recovery procedures, operating procedures, and policies.
  • Collaborate with technical and business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather and analyze product functionality, business continuity needs, and technical requirements.
  • Facilitate the collection of business and IT requirements from various stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Develop clear, detailed, and structured technical documents with attention to detail, ensuring that they meet the organization's needs for business continuity and technical understanding.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including technical and business stakeholders, to ensure proper documentation alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Utilize tools such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Visio to create and manage comprehensive documentation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT documentation and technical writing.
  • Familiarity with IT application stacks, including their components and where they are typically located within an organization.
  • Technical documentation skills, specifically in preparing and maintaining system recovery procedures, operating procedures, and policies.
  • Information gathering and analysis skills, with experience in gathering and analyzing technical and product information from multiple sources.
  • Requirement gathering skills, with the ability to gather business and IT requirements from diverse stakeholders.
  • Documentation tools proficiency, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of ServiceNow's APM Module is a plus but not mandatory.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Technical Writing, or a related field is preferred.
