Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Duties:
    • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize medical instruments and equipment for tests and procedures.
    • Prepare patients for visits, including taking vital signs and medical histories.
    • Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, blood work, and vision and hearing screenings.
    • Administer vaccinations and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, as directed by physicians.
    • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis.
    • Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records.
    • Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries with a pleasant and helpful demeanor.
    • Handle billing and coding for insurance purposes.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification from a recognized certifying body, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of previous experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a clinical environment.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids.
