About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Team Leader to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery of instrumentation to our operating rooms.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Sterile Processing timeframes and procedures.
  • Ensure the daily delivery of instruments and supplies to the operating rooms, completing all case cart checklists as required.
  • Collaborate with Operating Room leadership and Service Line Coordinators to communicate instrumentation needs and ensure timely delivery.
  • Communicate with vendors to enforce policies regarding loaner instruments for scheduled cases.
  • Monitor the OR schedule throughout the shift for additional cases and/or cancellations, ensuring instrumentation is available as needed.
  • Participate in the daily scheduling huddle to communicate instrumentation and loaner needs for the next day.
  • Conduct daily checks of consigned case carts and peel pack bins to ensure appropriate par levels.
  • Verify that instrument count sheets are completed, signed, and returned to the Sterile Processing Department daily.
  • Monitor for broken instrumentation and maintain repair logs.
  • Perform physical demands of the role, including lifting a minimum of 30 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 50 lbs., and standing for the length of the shift.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or equivalent programs.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a multi-service line operating room.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Knowledge of patient care equipment, proper cleaning and disinfection techniques, and medical instrumentation and supplies.
  • Established ability to multitask and perform detailed work in a fast-paced environment.
Licenses and Certifications

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) [Formerly the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)].

Working Conditions

This role requires physical demands, including lifting a minimum of 30 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 50 lbs., and standing for the length of the shift.
