Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technician 2 to join our team in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington. As a key member of our Specimen Processing team, you will be responsible for coordinating the workflow of preanalytical and technical activities for sendout testing to referral labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the preparation, packaging, and shipment of sendout samples to reference labs.
  • Maintain awareness of and utilize resources to provide instruction on the collection and processing of specialized and targeted tests.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate stock of special collection materials needed for referral testing.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with referral laboratories to facilitate the sendout process.
  • Perform problem-solving to expedite processing of specimens received mislabeled, unlabeled, or missing patient data.
  • Monitor lab reports and pending log monitors to verify consistency of service and troubleshoot issues.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent and two years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude towards patients, patient care providers, and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
