Smithfield Foods is seeking a highly skilled Senior Corporate Counsel - Contracts to join our team. As a key member of our Law Department, you will provide legal advice and support to the Company, working closely with our leadership and business units to achieve business objectives while managing risk.
Key Responsibilities- Drafting and Negotiating Contracts: Develop, analyze, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, master services agreements, and supply chain agreements.
- Contract Management: Manage contract matters from intake to execution, advising on performance issues and available contractual remedies.
- Negotiation Strategies: Prepare negotiation strategies that reflect an advanced knowledge of contract terms and conditions, legal requirements, and the Company's overall strategies.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Support the Law Department in contract lifecycle management, template creation, and the development of contracting standards.
- Research and Evaluation: Research and evaluate contract management products and legal technology tools to streamline legal processes.
- Training and Development: Prepare and deliver trainings and tool kits for the business, helping to develop contracting processes.
- Supervision and Training: Supervise and train junior attorneys and paralegals, actively managing outside counsel.
- Education: Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 7 years of substantive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Skills: Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to think critically and make well-reasoned recommendations.
