Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead our Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Testing and Maintenance Practice in the Gulf Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple teams, developing customer relationships, and providing technical direction to a staff of technicians and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage multiple teams located in our southwest regional offices in delivering engineering, testing, and commissioning projects for our clients.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed the client's expectations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with clients to develop policy, procedure, and quality expectations that meet client requirements and increase effectiveness of our deliverables.
  • Staff Management: Manage the staff at various offices and general administration of the office day-to-day activities in coordination with the Director or Office Practice Lead of C&I.
  • Business Development: Work directly with office supervisors in developing the resource plans, design criteria, estimating functions, and client proposals for our engineering, testing, and commissioning services.
  • Partnerships: Develop strong partnerships with other C&I and Testing and Commissioning (T&C) offices and other TRC sectors to increase business and market potential for TRC.
  • Travel: Be able to travel as needed to develop new client relationships and manage the solicitations by utilities for new engineering opportunities.
  • Reporting: Develop, manage, and submit regular reports to track operational and financial results as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education: BS degree in a technical discipline, preferably electrical engineering, or demonstrated experience and qualifications in distribution utility engineering or C&I or T&C project management.
  • Management Experience: Demonstrated management and leadership skills, combined with creativity and technical background to understand and develop the C&I business.
  • Team Orientation: Candidates must be team-oriented and forward-thinking managers.
  • Hands-on Experience: Hands-on management experience in a fast-paced consulting environment with exceptional attention to detail and client service.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, including presentations to senior management and both verbal and written skills to staff, local management, and client representatives.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of engineering, testing, and commissioning requirements and basic regulatory and specification guidelines.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated management experience directing an engineering, testing, and commissioning team in delivering and executing goals and objectives.
  • Industry Experience: Direct experience in delivering professional services to the electric utility sector.
  • Performance Management: Manage employee capabilities and performance to maximize the effectiveness of the region while ensuring all projects are properly staffed to obtain desired goals.
  • Financial Management: Manage revenues, overheads, net income, and gross margin in order to effectively meet or exceed profitability, quality performance targets, and other goals.
  • Utilization Goals: Ensure weekly billable and utilization goals are met as defined by the project guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all quality expectations by clients are met and follow all TRC Code of Safe Practices as outlined in the company safety policies.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Demonstrate professionalism and leadership to staff and client representatives, build cooperation through credibility, integrity, and expertise in all activities and correspondence, generate enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to TRC's company mission, and actively resolve conflicts through effective conflict management with staff.
