Job Overview

This position is essential within the Department of Rehabilitation and involves a range of responsibilities aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving their vocational goals.

As a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work under the guidance of the Team Manager and will be responsible for the comprehensive delivery of services to clients. Your primary functions will include:

  1. Assessing eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services.
  2. Establishing priorities for service delivery.
  3. Crafting the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
  4. Modifying the IPE as necessary.
  5. Evaluating successful employment outcomes and facilitating case closures.

You will provide counseling to individuals with disabilities, employing various techniques to help them adapt to their situations. This includes identifying barriers to employment and recommending appropriate interventions to enhance their chances of achieving independence and equality in the workplace.

In collaboration with the VRSD team, you will coordinate assessments and services, ensuring effective communication throughout the process. You will also finalize decisions regarding eligibility and service priorities, as well as approve and sign off on IPEs and amendments.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field is required, along with successful completion of a graduate course focused on counseling theories and techniques. Strong interpersonal skills and reliability are essential for this role.

While bilingual abilities are not mandatory, they are highly valued. This position may offer a hybrid telework option in line with departmental policies, requiring occasional office attendance as needed.
