Carroll Concrete is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Technician to join our team. As a Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for implementing the QA/QC program for batching, mixing, and delivery of ready-mixed concrete.
Key Responsibilities:- Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance.
- Perform QC tests for: Entrained air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sandiness, yield, setting time, water-cement ratio, and strength.
- Record and report test results to dispatch, batch personnel.
- Use test results to make mix adjustments.
- Troubleshoot fresh/hardened concrete problems.
- Understand the batching system at all plants.
- Assist in the performance of trial batches: For state-approved mix designs and for special project mix designs.
- Transport test cylinders to the lab, log, strip, and mark cylinders, break cylinders.
- Calibrate production and testing equipment.
- Maintain testing equipment, labs, and lab equipment at all plants.
- A valid driver's license and must be insurable within the Company's tolerable insurable limits.
- Must have above-average computer and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, algebra, mathematical formulas) and ability to use a scientific calculator.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Capable of making quick and responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Accuracy with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Able to lift/maneuver 75 lbs.
- Must be able to safely climb ladders on ready-mix trucks.
- Must be able to maneuver around uneven jobsites, sit, squat, walk, and carry items frequently throughout the workday. This position also requires extended periods of driving as necessary.
- Available to work some flexible hours to include early start times, night pours, and late day pours.
- Preferred but not required: An ACI Level 1, Field testing technician, and NETTCP Concrete technician with necessary certification.
