Stellar is looking for a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Project Superintendent to oversee our large-scale commercial and industrial mechanical projects. In this role, you will manage the daily operations of project execution, collaborating closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will play a crucial role in supervising the work of employees and subcontractors, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for the on-site construction activities, coordinating and directing all trades involved in the project.
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly project schedules.
- Create and manage a three-week look-ahead schedule to anticipate project needs.
- Work alongside the Project Manager and General Superintendent to devise effective construction methods and techniques.
- Attend and actively participate in all required meetings with the Project Manager and General Superintendent.
- Prepare and maintain accurate daily reports documenting all project activities.
- Assist the Project Manager in identifying and vetting qualified subcontractors, monitoring their performance and scheduling.
- Identify and report any additional work requested by the owner or arising from job conditions that exceed the original scope.
- Verify layout accuracy for all work performed, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
- Oversee quality control for both in-house and subcontracted work.
- Ensure on-site safety and accident prevention, conducting daily safety meetings and promptly addressing any incidents.
- Foster positive relationships with the local community and build rapport with owner representatives and plant personnel.
- Provide on-site training to employees to cultivate a knowledgeable workforce.
- Be prepared to undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Direct the activities of workers involved in the construction of mechanical, plumbing, and piping projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager.
- Report directly to the General Superintendent.
- Supervise all assigned personnel and subcontractors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical systems.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Superintendent.
- Experience in food processing facilities is preferred.
- Valid driving license is required.
- Familiarity with various duct types and materials.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
- Skilled in project tracking, material ordering, and manpower forecasting.
- Experience in managing and scheduling subcontractors.
- Thorough understanding of blueprints from other major trades.
- Ability to supervise multiple crews simultaneously.
- Capable of performing heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) with or without mechanical assistance.
