Job Summary

Northern Arizona Healthcare Corporation is seeking a skilled Plant Operator 3rd Class to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all utility systems at our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Management: Maintain, operate, and repair all boilers and auxiliary equipment to produce steam for heat, sterilization, humidification, and domestic hot water.
  • Chiller and Cooling Systems: Maintain, operate, and repair all chillers and auxiliary equipment necessary to produce chilled water and provide cooling to the hospital.
  • Water Treatment and Chemical Management: Perform chemical tests to all boilers, closed loops, condensate systems, condenser systems, feed waters systems, and pools, making adjustments to these systems according to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Pneumatic Tube System Maintenance: Maintain, operate, and repair all pneumatic tube system components.
  • Medical Gas Systems: Maintain and operate all medical gas systems and auxiliary equipment necessary to provide a continuous supply of medical gas to the hospital.
  • Emergency Procedures: Perform emergency procedures to provide continuous service of all utility systems feeding the hospital in the event of one or more system failures under the direction of supervision.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and keep accurate records for equipment that has had corrective maintenance and/or preventative maintenance.
Compliance and Safety
  • Incident Reporting: Responsible for reporting any safety-related incidents in a timely fashion through our incident reporting system.
  • Safety Training: Attend all safety-related training programs and perform work in a safe manner.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current and comply with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Ensure all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Steam Plant Operation/Equivalent Trade School or Apprenticeship preferred.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Valid AZ Driver's License with no moving violations for the previous 39 months required; EPA Certification/Universal and Refrigerant Handling Certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience required.
