About the Position

This role as a Biomedical Equipment Technician involves performing Planned Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance on diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment in a healthcare facility. The technician will also assist in equipment planning, installation, repair, and maintenance as per the defined standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carries out Planned Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) of high-level diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment used throughout the healthcare facility.
  • Assists in the planning and installation of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment.
  • Manages maintenance, repair, and servicing of specialized equipment in nuclear medicine, ultrasound, angiography, and radiation therapy areas as assigned by Clinical Engineering (CE) Manager.
  • Procures parts and supplies within established guidelines for emergency service and repair of all radiological and general medical equipment.
  • Coordinates repairs with vendors and users when needed, with follow-up paperwork and validation that issues are resolved.
  • Participates in training sessions on equipment maintenance to stay up-to-date on technological and medical equipment advances.
  • Conducts training sessions for radiology clinical/professional staff on the proper use and safety of advanced radiology equipment.
  • Offers on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis.
  • Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction as shown by customer satisfaction surveys.
Requirements
  • Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology, imaging service technology, or equivalent military training and experience.
  • Certified Radiology Equipment Service (CRES) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Three or more years of experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on nuclear medicine, diagnostic x-ray, therapeutic x-ray, ultrasound, or radiation therapy equipment, including R/F, Vascular/Specials, CT SIM, Mammography Units, PACS, Nuclear Cameras, 1st Look Cath Lab, CT etc.
  • Experience operating complex testing equipment such as high Voltage Bleeder or Dynalyzer, Densitometer, Non-Invasive KVp meter, etc.
  • Specialized training by manufacturer or third party equipment repair in areas like nuclear medicine, diagnostic x-ray, therapeutic x-ray, ultrasound, or radiation therapy equipment.
  • Understanding of radiation physics, medical terminology, medical instrumentation, anatomy, physiology, imaging service techniques, and 21 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, EOC, FDA, and other regulations and standards related to clinical and radiology equipment service and repair.
