Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CDL Route Driver to join our team at Airgas Inc. As a CDL Route Driver, you will be responsible for delivering compressed gas cylinders and hard goods to customers on a scheduled route. This is a critical role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a Class B, Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed gas cylinders and hard goods to customers on a scheduled route.
  • Pick up empty cylinders from customer sites and record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest.
  • Obtain signatures from customers for receipt purposes and resolve service inquiries and complaints.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting deficiencies and ensuring all safety items are in good working order.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional personal appearance and vehicle appearance.
Requirements
  • Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers.
  • Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, self-starter, self-motivation, sense of urgency, well-organized, ability to achieve goals, and ability to focus and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze a customer's situation and help resolve customer problems.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Ability to routinely lift lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures.
  • Ability to perform functions during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and finger activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid Class A or B CDL driver's license with hazmat endorsement.
  • One year of experience driving a commercial vehicle with like equipment or a diploma from an accredited truck driving school within the last five years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that requires working outdoors in varying temperatures and driving a commercial vehicle for up to 8 hours. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
