Position Overview:
The Logistics Operations Supervisor supports the Distribution Manager in various aspects including recruitment, training, and scheduling of personnel. This role also involves aiding in the formulation, execution, and oversight of logistical strategies aimed at ensuring uninterrupted distribution of wire and cable, aligning with set standards, customer requirements, and production objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Distribution Manager, supervises the activities of staff involved in shipping, receiving, loading, and unloading trucks, as well as in storing, retrieving, packing, and distributing finished products.
- Delegates specific tasks to team members, such as confirming quantities of incoming production items and assembling orders for customers.
- Promotes a culture of safety across all operational activities.
- Collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to create strategic plans and procedures that enhance warehouse efficiency.
- Ensures systematic stacking/storage of products, and oversees the picking and staging of outgoing shipments, maintaining high productivity levels while ensuring that shipments are complete and undamaged.
- Establishes operational protocols for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, assesses warehouse inventory, and generates reports on slow-moving or surplus stock.
- Reviews shipping documents for incoming products and customer orders to effectively plan work activities.
- Maintains accurate departmental records and documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and upholds a clean and safe working environment.
- Interprets and enforces company policies among employees.
- Coordinates activities with sales, inventory management, procurement, and transportation teams.
- Optimizes and manages the fulfillment order lifecycle.
- Delivers a high standard of internal and external customer service.
- Ensures all products and services comply with both external and internal standards, including legal requirements and customer expectations.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize waste and enhance operational efficiency.
- Actively participates in internal continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in distribution required.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or related fields is a plus.
- Proven ability to maintain high levels of customer service.
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in distribution management.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Experience with continuous improvement and lean principles preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to anticipate and resolve issues effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in inventory management software and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with strict scheduling demands.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is advantageous.
