Job Summary:
Rapidly advancing in a dynamic environment at Children's National Hospital, the Respiratory Care Practitioner III (RCP-III) provides comprehensive cardiopulmonary care to patients of all ages. With an Associate's degree and minimum two years of college training in an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program, this seasoned professional delivers top-notch treatment modalities including humidity and aerosol therapy, lung inflation maneuvers, and mechanical ventilator management. In addition to their clinical expertise, the RCP-III serves as a valuable resource and preceptor for new hires and students, fostering a culture of collaboration and mentorship within the team.

Responsibilities:
- Administers all general Respiratory Therapy procedures according to department policy and acceptable practice
- Maintains sustained proficiency in acute care areas, ER, and critical care units through regular rotation schedules
- Demonstrates advanced mechanical ventilator management skills, including Nitric Oxide, Heliox, and HFOV set-up and management
- Performs invasive and non-invasive monitoring and diagnostic procedures ascribed to specific care areas
- Works independently in various settings, prioritizing patient needs and optimizing outcomes
- Collaborates with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Participates in ongoing education and training to maintain licensure and certification requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate's degree from an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a pediatric and/or neonatal critical care environment
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and BLS certification required
- Additional certifications such as PALS and NRP may be beneficial
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care and demonstrating compassion and empathy towards patients and families
