Position: Construction Materials Engineering Technician
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Construction Materials Engineering Technician to become a vital part of our Construction Services division. This role is essential in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan Review and Documentation: Analyze project specifications and requirements prior to field operations; accurately document observations and testing outcomes related to construction materials.
Data Management: Efficiently utilize field and laboratory information management systems for effective data organization.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure precision and reliability of field and laboratory instruments to comply with industry standards.
Inspection Compliance: Follow International Building Code (IBC) regulations for the testing and inspection of construction materials.
Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with management, contractors, and clients to provide updates on project status and address any issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 3 years of experience in construction material testing and inspections, or relevant experience combined with vocational training, or an associate degree in a related field with no prior experience.
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Basic mathematical skills, including understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and measurement units.
- Proficient in data entry across various software applications on mobile devices.
- Possession of two or more active certifications, such as:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician.
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).
- DOT Certifications in Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of fulfilling the physical demands of this role, including:
- Working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
- Navigating rough and uneven terrain.
- Standing for extended periods, up to 8 hours daily, with occasional 12-hour shifts.
- Lifting and carrying weights of 40-50 lbs, including field and laboratory samples and equipment.
- Safely maneuvering field equipment in active construction environments.
- Traveling for assignments as needed.
- Working outside standard business hours when required.
