Job SummaryAs a Transportation Engineer - Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing, organizing, designing, and executing highway, roadway, and other Civil Engineering projects for clients, including the Indiana Department of Transportation and other local public agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Manage design teams to develop projects throughout the design process.
- Engineering Design: Provide engineering design and support for transportation design projects, including roadway reconstruction and overlay, bridge approaches, multi-use paths, storm sewers, traffic signals, sidewalk ramps, guardrail, pavement marking and signing, and right of way plans.
- Plan Development: Develop plans, specifications, and estimates based on current INDOT plan development requirements.
- Drainage and Stormwater Management: Perform drainage delineation, calculation, and storm sewer pipe sizing using hydrocad or other SWMM software.
- Pavement Marking and Signing: Develop pavement marking plans, signing plans, and maintenance of traffic plans.
- Best Management Practices: Recommend Best Management Practices (BMPs) per requirements of INDOT, IDEM, and other MS4s according to Indiana CGSWP.
- Cost Estimation: Perform and deliver cost estimates using INDOT's Average Item Price Report and ability to work through AASHTO software.
- Design Computations and Quantity Estimates: Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
- Client Communication: Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Report Preparation: Assist in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, design schedules, and studies.
- Proposal Preparation: Assist in the preparation of proposals and other Letters of Interest.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation.
- Licensure: Indiana Professional Engineer license required.
- Work Experience: 5+ years of highway design experience, based on INDOT and AASHTO road design manuals.
- Skills: Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, prior experience in 3D modeling using Civil3D, and excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
Typical office environment with some work performed outside on a project site. May be exposed to extreme temperatures. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety boots/shoes, hard hat, safety vest, etc.
