Position Summary:
The Boeing Company is in search of a Senior Product Review Engineer to contribute to the Boeing Defense, Space & Security sector. This role is based in San Antonio, TX, and involves collaboration with the Defense Production Engineering Organization. We seek proactive professionals who are eager to engage directly with production processes and make swift engineering decisions. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential as you will work closely with production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize extensive knowledge of Boeing's engineering principles and design methodologies.
- Identify and resolve product and process challenges throughout the product lifecycle, leading investigations into technical and quality issues that require innovative engineering solutions.
- Guide teams in conducting root cause analyses and developing corrective actions for design discrepancies.
- Drive the implementation of product and process enhancements.
- Employ creative strategies to address complex nonconformities and detect deviations.
- Evaluate reported issues for potential safety implications and manage intricate resolutions, leading the development of both interim and final solutions.
- Provide subject matter expertise during the design phase by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design evaluations.
- Act as a representative of the engineering community throughout the production and post-production phases.
- Ensure compliance of suppliers and partners with Boeing standards.
- Create customer communications to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of equipment, leading efforts for on-site repairs and investigations.
- Design effective jacking and shoring strategies.
- Oversee the design of temporary structural repairs and perform static strength assessments.
- Develop and manage non-destructive testing procedures, tools, and standards.
- Create and implement technical training programs for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support Structural and Electrical Liaison Engineering roles as necessary for various aircraft fleets.
- Focus on the Executive Transport Fleet, particularly the 747.
Work Environment:
This position requires 100% on-site presence. The selected candidate will be expected to work at the designated location.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance will be required post-hire.
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science from an accredited institution.
- Current or recent MRB (Material Review Board) certification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing repair methodologies for structural and electrical rework to restore aircraft systems to their original specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in interpreting and creating engineering drawings, specifications, and design manuals.
- At least 8 years of experience in troubleshooting avionics systems, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems.
- Experienced in analyzing engineering designs to formulate solutions for product and process challenges.
- At least 8 years of experience in conducting analyses and drafting resolutions for non-conformances.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in identifying and evaluating opportunities for product and process improvements.
- Certification in Materials Review Board (MRB) or Universal Product Review (UPR) authority.
- Experience in executive interior design and installation.
- Background in modification and repair of wide-body aircraft.
Education and Experience:
Typical educational background includes a Bachelor's degree with 9 or more years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 or more years, or a PhD with 4 or more years of experience in engineering or related fields.
