Psychiatrist - ER

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking highly skilled Psychiatrists to join our team in the Emergency Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. This esteemed hospital is a designated Level I Trauma and Stroke Center, offering a wide range of medical specialties, including award-winning Cancer and Breast Centers. Our Department of Psychiatry provides comprehensive care and services to a diverse population, with 60 acute inpatient beds, a busy Psychiatry ED, a Mobile Crisis Team, a Consultation-Liaison Service, and a large ambulatory platform serving adults and children.

The hospital has a growing psychiatry residency program and maintains a strong academic affiliation with Weill Medical College of Cornell University, providing staff with teaching and research opportunities. Attending staff are eligible to apply for academic appointments with Weill Cornell Department of Psychiatry.

The Attending Psychiatrist will be responsible for providing compassionate and evidence-based direct care to patients in PES (Psychiatric Emergency Services) and supervising residents, students, social workers, nurses, and other team members involved in clinical care. Responsibilities include:

• Completing comprehensive and ongoing mental health assessments, formulating treatment plans, initiating treatment, and managing psychiatric and medical issues of all patients.
• Providing sound judgment with regard to disposition planning.
• Conducting morning and evening rounds and providing clinical teaching.
• Overseeing patient flow issues, managing the whiteboard, and assigning cases to be seen.
• Supervising resident and student cases with feedback given on interview techniques, assessments, treatment plans, and documentation.
• Managing inter-disciplinary team issues that affect clinical care of patients.
• Documenting incidents in conjunction with nursing.

Evenings after 4:30pm, overnights, and weekend shifts: In addition to covering PES, attending psychiatrists are responsible for coverage of consults on other inpatient services, with differentials for overnights, weekend/holidays for sessional.

• Board Eligible or Board Certified Attending Psychiatrist.
• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine.
• Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry.
• License to practice medicine in the State of New York.
• Proven ability to make sound and quick triage, treatment, and disposition decisions.

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $236,900* (board eligible); $247,200* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $404,590** (board eligible) and $415,920** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:

• Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $104,000.
• Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year's average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
• 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
  • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
• Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
