About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLS) team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of fan and acoustics systems for our spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and lead the Ventilation and Atmosphere Revitalization fan assemblies and interfaces through the entire life cycle: Conception, Design, Build, Test, Install and Operations
  • Derive functional and performance requirements, and specify hardware
  • Perform system calculations and basic analyses
  • Design and integrate the fan assemblies and acoustics into ECLS systems
  • Define and maintain interfaces and the schematics
  • Support manufacturing engineers in fabrication and assembly planning of hardware
  • Provide technical and program guidance to solve problems with the help of your team
  • Be actively involved in development testing of your hardware
  • Lead a multi-discipline product team
  • Determine and manage schedule and budget for owned hardware
  • Show system and component compliance to Blue and NASA technical requirements
  • Be the technical point of contact for your hardware
  • Participate in the supplier selection process of components
  • Adhere to Blue Leadership Principles
Requirements
  • BS in related engineering field
  • Experience in one or more areas of the product life cycle
  • Experience leading small technical teams
  • 3+ years experience with development of fans, blowers, controllers and/or acoustics control
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Creo
  • 6+ years experience with fans and/or blowers and controllers
  • Experience with small project management
  • Worked on a crewed spaceflight program
  • Experience working with suppliers during the development of the hardware
